Matteo Guendouzi was an unused substitute for France during their 4-1 win over Albania in the international break. And this was a bit disappointing for the midfielder since he was hopeful to play for his national side after a good shift during the North London Derby.

Matteo Geundouzi has so far started in every Premier League game for Arsenal and vs Spurs, the midfielder was easily one of the best players on the pitch for Unai Emery’s men.

And while the Gunners fans were hopeful this performance would be enough to get him a start under Didier Deschamps but the French boss clearly preferred the duo of Matuidi and Tolisso in the centre of the park.

But despite snubbing Matteo Guendouzi, the Frenchman was full praise of the youngster marking him out as the next big thing.

The Les Blues manager said(as reported)“Do not ask too much, he’s a young player, who is still the Espoirs generation, who plays a lot of matches with Arsenal where there is strong competition.

“He’s the modern midfielder, box to box as they say there, with a lot of power and technical quality too. He’s there.

“What I expect from young people is that they bring this freshness, this dynamism.

“He is a very young player but with a very big potential.”

Next up, France will take on Andorra on Tuesday and Deschamps has indicated that he could reshuffle his first XI for this game meaning Matteo Guendouzi could finally get his first start for the French senior side.

After returning back from international duty, the Gunners will travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford FC and the midfielder will most certainly start this game.

And while Lucas Torreira is expected to start alongside Matteo Guendouzi in this game but the Uruguayan picked up an injury on international duty which might keep him out for a few weeks in which case Granit Xhaka will retain his place in the starting XI.
