Liverpool forward Mo Salah was the most talked about player in Europe last season but that aura seems to be fading away rapidly.

During the 2017-18 season, Mo Salah managed to win the Golden Boot in the Premier League by scoring 32 goals thus ending the dominance of Harry Kane on the goal-scoring charts.

This season though, the Egyptian’s importance has diminished and despite scoring 17 goals in the league, Mo Salah has not been able to have the same impact which he had last campaign.

And now former EPL striker Alan Shearer has revealed the possible reason why Mo Salah has failed to deliver the goods this year.

Writing in his column for The Sun, Shearer said: “Defenders all know what Salah wants to do now,

“He wants to cut in from the right to shift on to his left foot. He is also not influencing the big games like he once was.

“Salah seems to be lacking confidence and is showing a few signs of nerves. That is really worrying for the Reds at such a crucial time of the season.

“Salah has 17 Premier League goals so far this campaign and that, of course, is still a decent return.

“But he is not hitting the heights he did last season when he already had 24 goals in the top flight at this stage.

“And this is the year when it actually really matters, with Liverpool going for the title.”

Last year, Liverpool heavily depended on Mo Salah but despite the Egyptian performing poorly this season, the Reds have been doing perfectly fine.

And this is because Sadio Mane has also stepped up to the occasion. During the 2017-18 season, Mane managed to score only 10 league goals but this campaign he has already managed 17 with still a number of matches to play.
