Rangers successfully went through the qualifying stages of UEFA Europa League and they will now kick off their campaign this week against Feyenoord.

The Teddy Bears have been slotted in GROUP G of the Europa League which in many sense is one of the more tough groups in the competition.

Rangers have been lined up against Porto, Young Boys and Feyenoord meaning if Steven Gerrard’s men want to move onto the next round then they will have to sweat it out and pick up as many points as possible – especially during the homes games.

But speaking ahead of their opening match this Thursday, Sheyi Ojo has revealed that the Rangers players, in fact, wanted to be in a tough group.

For pretty much all of the players, it was like, we wanted to get a tough a group“, Ojo told the official Rangers podcast(as reported).

“It is a good opportunity, as a club and as players, to go against the best and, obviously, that’s what we want to do.

That’s why you push so hard to be in these sort of tournaments.

I feel like being in the Europa League this season is massive not only for the club but for the players as well.

It’s going to be a massive test but I’m sure we’ll be able to do well.

VERDICT:

We understand that keeping a tough face in public is really important but in reality, Rangers have a mountain to climb in the group stages.

We don’t see the Gers picking up any points against Porto both home and away so in order to be serious about progressing, Gerrard will have to ensure that they pick up maximum points against Feyenoord and maybe against Young Boys.
