Spurs recently appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager and since then, they have seen a turnaround in fortunes. But this good form could very well go down the drain with Spurs hosting Chelsea this weekend in the Premier League.

After a couple of goods wins in the league, the Lilywhites are now just three points off the top-four spot on the table and this fourth spot is coincidentally occupied by Chelsea.

So if Mourinho’s men are able to beat the Blues in this London Derby and pick up all three points then they will end the weekend in the top-four whereas Chelsea will slip out of it.

Spurs team news vs Chelsea:

Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm both remain sidelined with injuries meaning Gazzaniga will once again be the No 1 for Tottenham.

Davinson Sanchez and Alderweireld have been playing as the centre-back of choice for Jose Mourinho during the past few games and the same should be the case when Chelsea come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ben Davies has sustained ligament damage on his left ankle as a result of which he’s been on the sidelines for quite some time now.

Hence the absence of the left-back meaning Vertonghen will have to slot into his place when Spurs take on Chelsea.

Ndombele has been recovering from a groin strain and there were reports that the midfielder could be fit in time to take on Frank Lampard’s side. Now though, it’s been made clear that the summer signing will not play any part this weekend but could be fit to take part during the Boxing Day fixture.

With Ndombele out of the picture, it will once again be the pair of Sissoko and Eric Dier who will play in central midfield while Dele Alli is deployed a bit further upfront.

Christian Eriksen has more or less been a benchwarmer this season for Spurs and we don’t think his situation will change this weekend vs Chelsea. At best, the playmaker could come on as a second-half substitute.

Apart from Alli, Son has been one of the most influential figures for Spurs under the Mourinho regime and the South Korean is sure to start vs the Blues on the left-wing while Lucas Moura plays on the right.

Harry Kane, as usual, will play as the lone central striker for Spurs.

Spurs’ predicted XI vs Chelsea:

Starting XI: Gazzaniga; Aurier, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Sanchez; Eric Dier, Sissoko, Dele Alli; Son, Lucas Moura, Harry Kane.
