Spurs finished fourth in the Premier League table last season and they also ended up losing the Champions League final to Liverpool on the final day of the campaign.

But Daniel Levy has made sure that he brings in enough recruitments this summer so as to ensure a tough fight for the league title.

During their first game of the season, Spurs were on the verge of losing with Aston Villa taking the lead in the 9th minute. But thankfully, the Lilywhites shifted gears in the second half.

Goals from summer signing Ndombele and a brace from Harry Kane ensured that Spurs kicked off their new season with a win but next up they travel to the Eithad Stadium in order to take on Manchester City.

Spurs news vs Manchester City:

Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez started in central defence vs Villa last weekend and the pair should keep their place this weekend while Walker-Peters and Danny Rose operate as full-backs.

Ben Davies returned to training last weekend after recovering from a hip injury but the left-back is yet to get back to full fitness.

“Returned to training with the squad and building up fitness.” the manager told the reporters last week.

Juan Foyth picked up an ankle injury and Pochettino has gone on record to say that the 21-year-old will be out for the next couple of weeks.

“It’s a tough injury and for sure it’s many weeks [of recovery].

“The medical staff is going to update in the next few days. We hope he can recover as soon as possible and be with us.”

Erik Lamela played as the link between the attackers and the midfield but he did not have the desired impact which means Christen Eriksen will be deployed in that very same role vs Man City.

Heung-Min Son remains suspended for this game while Dele Alli is also ruled out with a thigh injury.

This means that the attacking lineup will consist of Lucas Moura and Harry Kane – the same duo which started the game vs West Ham United last weekend.
