Rangers FC beat Ross County in the Scottish Premiership this weekend and speaking after the match Steven Gerrard chose to make some rather big predictions.

After the win, the Gers are now back level on points with arch-rivals Celtic FC but they still remain second on the league table based on goal difference.

And speaking after the Ross County match, Steven Gerrard claimed that one of his team’s motives this season should be to score more goals since goal difference could play a major role in determining the champions this season.

“I thought we got sloppy in the last 20 minutes,” he said(as reported).

“The game’s won but I want the standards to remain the same because goal difference could be important. But in the main, it was a very strong performance.

“The focus needs to switch pretty quickly to the semi-final,

“We have to respect the occasion but remember the process, remember our standards, remember what we’ve done in the majority of games this season. If we find our level, it should be enough.”

VERDICT:

Rangers and Celtic have very identical figures this season in the Premiership with both teams losing one and drawing one game so far.

Uncannily both the sides have conceded 7 goals each but Steven Gerrard’s men have managed to score two goals less than their Old Firm rivals.

And if these early stats are anything to go by then surely we are in for a photo finish towards the end of the season which is why Steven Gerrard wants his boys to play attacking football from the very first whistle.

But having said that Rangers FC started the previous season positively too but then went on to drop some unnecessary points towards the second half of the season and this was enough for Celtic to open up a gap of nine points at the top of the table.
