Stoke City were the first team this season to stop Manchester United from picking up all three points. The match ended with a scoreline of 2-2 and any Man Utd fan will tell you that a trip to Stoke is never that easy since many on-field actions are sometimes overshadowed by off the field antics. And such was the case during this past weekend.

The United manager refused to shake hands with the Stoke boss after the game and details of the clash were leaked afterwards where it came to light that Hughes had shoved the Portuguese during the second half and had also told him to ‘f*** off’.

And as soon as this bit of news was made public it started creating a lot of steam. But with any news, this too had a life span and it looked as if it was slowly fading into oblivion. Now the Stoke boss has spoken about it and thus opening up the debate once again.

According to Hughes, too much was highlighted after the game and United’s media department should be blamed for that.

Hughes said, “Handshakes are neither here nor there,

“We should move on. Maybe after the game the media department at Man United switched on to full mode and got involved and didn’t do Jose any favours, to be perfectly honest.”

“I don’t need to comment on it much more.

“Too much was highlighted after the game by their media department with a view to maybe cementing Jose’s position. But I think they did him a disservice really.”

Mark Hughes also added that they were merely showing emotions and both of them have moved on after the incident.
