Timo Werner RB Leipzig
Timo Werner has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool from RB Leipzig

Premier League side Liverpool for the longest time have been tipped to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig – as per multiple reports.

Timo Werner joined Leipzig in 2016 and this season, the German international has been in red hot form for the Bundesliga side.

So far during the 2019-20 campaign, Werner has scored 27 goals and provided 12 assists in 36 games across all competitions making him one of the most sought after strikers in world football.

Chelsea for some time too had their eyes set on the 24-ear-old but eventually backed off since Timo Werner wanted to join Liverpool in case he moves to the Premier League.

Now though it seems like the centre-forward has chosen to not move out at as per Leipzig’s chief officer Oliver Mintzlaff.

Mintzlaff told Sky Sports Germany, as quoted: ‘I’m deeply relaxed about Werner.

‘He hasn’t signalled yet that he wants to leave at the end of the season and he doesn’t have to. He has a contract until 2023.’

This will be a massive setback for Jurgen Klopp who desperately wanted to bring in a new centre-forward during the summer transfer window.

While Roberto Firmino has been a top performer for the Reds, there’s a chance the player might be sold off since he’s scored just eight league goals this season. And if this really happens then Timo Werner would have been the perfect replacement.

The German international is currently valued at around £50 million and maybe Leipzig are just trying to up the price by claiming the player does not wish to leave.

But all said and done, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is sure to launch an official bid once the transfer window opens up and if Timo Werner wants to head out, he’ll without a doubt hand in a transfer request.
