Premier League side Arsenal are interested in signing Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and as per reports, they are willing to use Gabriel Jesus as a counter-weight.
Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli has been strained after the club’s TikTok channel recently mocked the striker and now, there are reports that the Serie A side are more than open to selling their most prized asset.
Napoli know very well that Arsenal want to sign Victor Osimhen and they will only allow him to join the North London side if the Gunners are ready to add Gabriel Jesus as part of the deal. It wasn’t sure how Arsenal will react to this proposal but it looks like Mikel Arteta is ready to send Jesus out.
Gabriel Jesus was brought in from Manchester City for a transfer fee of around £45 million but constant injuries have been a major issue for the forward. The Brazilian international has slowly seen his importance dip and this season, Mikel Arteta has put faith in Eddie Nketiah to lead the line.
This season, Jesus has netted only a single goal in 9 league appearances for Arsenal so it’s not a total surprise that Arteta is ready to send him out.
Victor Osimhen, on the other hand, has scored six goals in the same number of league games but his recent issue with the club means the Nigerian striker is likely to play for a new club in the 24/25 season.
Osimhen is valued at around €120 million and his contract expires in 2025. In August, there were reports that the striker had agreed to a new contract but after the debacle, there’s no way he is going to put pen to paper which means Napoli have to offload him next year.
Napoli will quote around €100 million for the striker which means even if Arsenal are willing to send Gabriel Jesus to Italy, the Premier League side will still have to shell out another €45-55 million along with the Brazilian.
