Pep Guardiola had a really mixed week since after escaping a Champions League ban next season, his side were embarrassingly knocked out of the FA Cup by Arsenal.

The Gunners went into this match as the clear underdogs but Mikel Arteta made sure that he used his knowledge about his former boss and club to take the Gunners into the final where they will take on Chelsea.

Despite Man City controlling the whole of the match, it’s Arsenal who won the game thanks to a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. And Pep Guardiola, clearly frustrated at losing such an important match, chose to take an aim at the Arsenal management and their dealings off the pitch.

After the match, Guardiola said, as reported: “The opponents always deserve my respect and credit, and Arsenal, they have it.

“I have all the respect for what Arsenal are on the pitch – not much off the pitch, but on the pitch a lot. So, I congratulate them and good luck against Chelsea in the final.

“Part of the good work Arsenal have done, I give them a lot of credit for – what they did, how good they defended.”

It’s almost certain that Pep Guardiola is referring to the way Arsenal chose to contact Mikel Arteta back in December while he was still part of his coaching staff at Manchester City.

We are still not sure what went down during that period but at that particular junction, Guardiola did not make any noise about a foul play. But as far as we understand, the Citizens’ boss is clearly not happy with the outcome of the semi-final and since he could not vent out his anger at his players publicly, he chose to attack the Gunners hierarchy.
