Jose Mourinho Spurs Premier League

Jose Mourinho took charge of Tottenham Hotspur a couple of weeks ago and this weekend he will be up against his former side, Chelsea in the Premier League.

And according to Frank Lampard, the Portuguese will be eager to pick up a win over the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Jose Mourinho had been without a job ever since Man United sacked him last December but with Spurs, he is back amongst the best and the team’s recent performances prove that the manager has certainly made a positive impact at the club.

Lampard has made it clear that while he would really love to beat the best but at the same time Jose Mourinho would be eager to win this encounter and outclass his former employers.

The Chelsea boss told BBC via The Metro: ‘I think it will be special. I think it will make a difference to me, I think it will make a difference to him.

‘We’re both professionals, we’re driven, and sometimes when you come across someone you worked with or a club that you worked with, it pushes you on that little bit more in the best possible way.

‘And it’s Tottenham-Chelsea, that game has enough anyway. And then you have Jose Mourinho there. And he’s going to be desperate to beat us, let’s make no bones.

‘In my professional head, yes[beat Jose Mourinho]. I want to go up against the best.

‘When I’ve gone up against Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp this season, of course, you want to say, “Can I show against these incredible managers what I can do, what my team can do?” So it will be a similar feeling.’

Jose Mourinho will undoubtedly be extra motivated on Sunday but what remains to be seen is whether his defenders can handle the pacy Chelsea forwards.

The Blues have defensive troubles of their own but Lampard knows very well that the likes of Pulisic and Mount have enough trouble to cause problems to the home side on Sunday.
