Man United beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the Premier League on Wednesday night – a game which saw Marcus Rashford score both the goals for the Old Trafford outfit.

The home side took control of the match pretty early on and apart from the only goal from Dele Alli, Spurs do not have much to show for endeavours at OT.

And according to Jose Mourinho, Man United won the match because of their desire to win on that particular night.

“We didn’t lose because of an attacking setup, we lost because of the way we came to the game, by the emotional way,” the Spurs boss said.

“They had more emotion than us, you see for example [Scott] McTominay’s performance, the globality of his performance, it was dominant, it was dominant.

“But then as I was saying, half-time we finished the first half with a good feeling, the feeling of a positive result, the feeling that we were playing better than them, we had much more control in the last 10-15 minutes.

“And then in the second half when we thought we were going for it we make that mistake and after that the game is a different game and then after that one injury here, one injury there.

“They did well, the referee allowed them to do it, but they did well that control of the time and the emotion of the game.”

Man United were the better side in all departments and it looked like Spurs just did not arrive at the party.

The likes of Harry Kane and Son barely did anything magical during the match and even Dele Alli, apart from that one goal, was almost non-existent.

So obviously this loss will surely be a reality check for Jose Mourinho and how he intends to set up his new-look Spurs side but for Man United, the win on Wednesday night is a big confidence booster since their next match is against Manchester City during the weekend.
