Aaron Ramsey playing for Arsenal
Aaron Ramsey playing for Arsenal

Aaron Ramsey has been a massive disappointment for Juventus but the former Arsenal star might be on his way back to the English Premier League.

Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing the Welsh playmaker as his loan spell in Scotland might have already come to an end.

Aaron Ramsey picked up an injury during the Old Firm Derby on Sunday and reports are suggesting that the 31-year-old will be returning to Juventus. The hamstring injury looks to be serious and the midfielder is now likely ruled out for the rest of the season.

He has played in 10 games since his arrival in January and if he cannot play anymore this season then it makes sense for him to end his loan spell and make an early return to Juventus.

Will Rangers try and sign Ramsey on a permanent deal?

Rangers were thought to be considering a permanent transfer for Aaron Ramsey but after his latest injury setback, the Gers are expected to back off.

His loan move has been mildly successful as he’s scored two goals in five matches but he’s been very injury prone which is why Rangers have decided to back off.

It makes perfect sense not to go after a 31-year-old who’s constantly picking up injuries and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be much better off investing in a young talent for the upcoming seasons. Players like Scott Arfield and Joe Aribo can do the same job as Ramsey so there’s no need for the Gers to take a gamble in trying to hold onto him.

Is Aaron Ramsey set to join Newcastle United?

Newcastle United have been keeping tabs on this whole situation and now with Rangers backing off, the Magpies have gotten an unexpected boost.

Newcastle are planning a major overhaul in the summer and since they now have wealthy owners, the club can very easily afford to take the risk of signing a player like Aaron Ramsey. Even if he flops, the Magpies won’t be too disheartened.

Ramsey might have been a flop with Juventus but he was highly successful with Arsenal in the Premier League and there’s a chance he can once again revive his career with Newcastle United.
