Last season, Casemiro was one of the standout performers for Manchester United but this campaign, his impact has massively diminished.
The Brazilian provided balance to Man United’s midfield last campaign but a combination of poor form and injuries has hampered his performances this season and so far, he’s started only eight Premier League games.
There have been strong reports that Erik ten Hag has decided to get rid of Casemiro in the summer and even the midfielder is ready to head for the exits.
However, on his return from injury, the ex-Madrid man has claimed that he is very happy with life at Manchester United and wishes to continue.
He said(h/t 90Min): “It’s all amazing, since the first day, I was made to feel very welcome by the club, the players and the fans.
“I received so much love – on and off the pitch. It was a unique and magical experience, and I needed such an experience. I am so happy in Manchester with everything the city and the club offer me.
“I am happy with that and with helping the club improve and get back to the path of achievements. So yeah, I’m happy to play for Manchester United.”
Casemiro brings his vast pool experience onto the pitch whenever he starts but he is currently the highest earner at the club with a salary of £ 350,000 per week and the experts believe the new INEOS owners wish to bring the salary cap down by selling the Brazilian in the summer.
Kobbie Mainoo is the natural heir to Casemiro and if the youngster can have a solid second half then Ten Hag won’t mind offloading the Brazilian. The club also signed Mason Mount last summer and the England international has the ability to play in a deeper role.
Man United continue to be linked with a host of central midfielders and it will make perfect sense for them to get rid of a 31-year-old and bring in someone who’s 24 or 25.
