Premier League side Wolves and Newcastle United are interested in signing striker Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus this summer – as per reports.
The forward return back to Juventus last summer after his loan spell with Chelsea came to an end but in Itlay, the Argentinian has not been able to live up to the expectations under Maurizio Sarri.
During the ongoing season, the forward has managed to score just five goals in 23 Serie A matches, this despite being named in the starting XI in more than 60% of these games.
So clearly, the Old Lady are looking to cash in on him in the summer and as per Sports Mole, Newcastle United & Wolves have a really big chance of signing the 32-year-old.
The report claims: “Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League duo Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United.
“The Italian outfit are looking to offload the former Real Madrid attacker this summer and are willing to let the 32-year-old leave for around £16.5m.
“Higuain’s former club River Plate are also believed to be interested in bringing the forward back to his native Argentina, according to reports from Corriere dello Sport.”

Some experts believe Gonzalo Higuain might look to head back to South America especially after his recent admission regarding his boyhood club.
The forward said: “River are a club that gave me everything, from letting me develop to Real Madrid buying me, but right now I don’t know what’s going to happen. My head is here [in Turin],
“[Marcelo] Gallardo’s team are very exciting, they have quality, strength, everything. The truth that you watch them and their number nine gets many chances. Clearly someone who played for River before will watch that team, see themselves there and say, ‘how nice’.
“Gallardo has caught everyone’s eyes and he’s earned it. I’d think about going back to River to retire.”
But if a Premier League club like Wolves or NUFC come calling there’s every chance the Juventus misfit might want to wrap up his playing career in England.
£16.5 million is a price which is well within the reach of both the English sides meaning they could potentially start a bidding war in the coming few weeks.
While Wolves will not lose focus in this transfer race but we have a feeling Newcastle United might move on to another big target if their Saudi-backed acquisition can be completed in time.
