Manchester United take on Chelsea in the semi-final of the FA Cup this weekend and the manager has admitted that Luke Shaw will not be fully fit by Sunday.

The left-back has been in fine form since the resumption of the season but he had to be taken off the pitch during the draw vs Southampton after he twisted his ankle.

And to make matters worse, his replacement, Brandon Williams also had to leave the pitch with a nasty cut under the eye.

Both the left-backs did not feature in the matchday squad against Crystal Palace on Thursday and now speaking before the Chelsea clash, Solskjaer has revealed the worst.

He told, as reported by the club’s official website: “Luke will be out. I can’t see him recovering. Brandon will hopefully be okay, he’ll try to join in training today with his eye. We’ll see if he can see the ball when he comes in! He should be fine.”

“We’ve not seen a lot of them [the players] because we’re just coming up to a training session now.

“But I’d rather have this game than not have it. We can’t say it [the scheduling] has been unkind, it is what it is and, when you get the opportunity to play a semi-final, you’ll squeeze that in even if you have to play on the same day.”

The absence of Luke Shaw will be a major blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the left-back has been a constant figure in defence over the past couple of weeks.

Shaw will surely be a miss on Sunday but if Brandon Williams is fully fit then it should not be a major cause of concern for the Red Devils as the youngster has done more than a decent job so far this season.

Willian generally operates down the right flank for Chelsea and we are confident that Williams has what it takes to keep the Brazilian at bay for most of the 90 minutes.
