Manchester United are set to face Liverpool this coming weekend and right before this tie, midfielder Mason Mount has been seen in training.
Yes, the England international who has been out of action for four months has finally reported back to training on Tuesday morning in a major boost to Erik Ten Hag’s plans.
The £60m summer signing has played on 11th of November against Luton Town at Old Trafford and since then, he’s missed 21 games in all competitions. Overall this season, Mount has started only four Premier League games for Man United, playing a total of just 401 minutes of league football.
Man United will face Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday and it will be a major boost for the manager if Mason Mount is available for selection for this quarter-final tie.
Honestly, it’s going to be a stretch because the midfielder has been missing for a really long time and the last time Ten Hag will want is to cause another setback by accelerating his comeback.
Young Kobbie Mainoo has done a brilliant job but Casemiro has seen a massive dip in form this season and we firmly believe once Mason Mount is back to full fitness, Ten Hag will immediately push the Brazilian to the bench.
Liverpool and Man City produced the game of the season on Sunday and if the Klopp’s men bring the same intensity to Old Trafford, Casemiro and co will be running around in circles for the full 90 minutes.
Coming back to Mason Mount and his fitness, we think the England international will probably be ready after the international break but more details will be known once Ten Hag talks to the press later this week.
Rasmus Hojlund, who’s also missed a few games due to an injury, is reportedly looking to make a comeback when Liverpool come to town on Sunday.
