Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester City are set to miss out on Kylian Mbappe who has decided to join Real Madrid next summer.
Mbappe had rejected a move to the Premier League just a few days ago and on Saturday, there were reports that the French forward will leave PSG and head to Spain at the end of this season.
PSG had an offer on the table for Mbappe but even the French side has accepted his decision and are now looking for a replacement. Real Madrid will see this as a major win because they have been chasing the World Cup winner for ages but it’s a major blow for Man City and particularly Liverpool.
PSG are said to be looking at AC Milan’s Rafael Leao as Mbappe’s replacement next season and we think both the EPL sides can also target him.
Rafael Leao has been one of the stars for Milan in recent seasons and in 190 games, the Portugal international has scored 49 and assisted 43 goals in all competitions. Last summer, Liverpool and Chelsea wanted to sign him but the forward snubbed both interests and chose to remain in Italy.
However, Milan could be forced to sell him this time around and the Premier League can be the ideal destination for the 24-year-old.
Man City wanted to sign Kylian Mbappe as the potential replacement for Haaland but now that Mbappe is joining Madrid, the Los Blancos won’t come after Haaland. And if the Norwegian remains at the Etihad Stadium, Guardiola does not need to spend money on a player like Rafael Leao.
Leao’s current market value is €90 million and because Pep already has wingers like Silva, Doku, Foden and Grealish in his squad Manchester City can do perfectly without Rafael Leao as well as Kylian Mbappe.
Liverpool, however, are going to lose Mo Salah to the Saudi League and they can certainly do with a replacement like Rafael Leao. Salah’s move to the Middle East will bring in a fair amount of transfer money so going after Leao shouldn’t be a financial struggle for Liverpool. The Anfield outfit are also keeping tabs on other wingers like Jarrod Bowen and Michael Olise
PSG will go all out to land the Milan winger once Kylian Mbappe officially makes his move to Real Madrid and the French side can easily price out any major opponent.
Obviously, these are still early days and a lot can happen from now until the end of the season but all major publications are of the view that PSG are going to lose Kylian Mbappe in the summer.
