Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid

According to a report in Defensa Central, Real Madrid will have the chance to land midfielder Bernardo Silva who also happens to be a major target for Barcelona.

Barcelona have been chasing Bernardo Silva since last year and this summer, the midfielder is finally ready to leave Manchester City in search of a fresh challenge. Manchester City know they are about to lose one of their star midfielders because he has a release clause in his contract which is why they are now trying to use him in a swap deal to sign Rodrygo.

The midfielder has a release clause of €58 million, which was included in the contract last year but Barcelona are struggling to gather this amount. And Man City are probably looking to use this window to try and strike a deal with Real Madrid for their 23-year-old striker.

Do Real Madrid need a player Bernardo Silva?

Madrid have just lost Toni Kroos to retirement and even Luka Modric is most likely going to leave next summer so in such a scenario, a player like Bernardo Silva won’t be a bad signing for Carlo Ancelotti.

Silva is primarily an attacking midfielder but he can also operate in a more central role and also as a right-sided winger. This season, he has played in 49 games for Man City, scoring and assisting a total of 21 goals. In the Premier League, he has played 33 games this campaign and he has an xA of 7.97 with a passing accuracy of almost 90%.

Sooner or later, Ancelotti will need to bring in a replacement for Toni Kroos and a player like Silva can easily slot in alongside the likes of Bellingham, Valverde and Camavinga.

His age is a slight cause of concern because the Portugal international will be 30 years old in August but with youngsters like Bellingham and Camavinga covering for him, Silva can very easily play the string-puller role in the middle of the pitch.

Will Ancelotti agree to swap Rodrygo and Silva?

While Real Madrid do need a player like Silva there’s no likelihood they will agree to bring him in, in exchange for Rodrygo.

Liverpool have reportedly seen a bid of €100 million rejected for the Brazilian striker so it makes no sense that the Los Blancos will swap him for someone who has a release clause of just €58 million.

If Madrid badly need to sign the Manchester City midfielder then they will just go ahead and trigger his release clause without making much of a fuss.

Is Bernardo Silva on his way to Barcelona?

Another reason why Real Madrid are not expected to sign Bernardo Silva is because the midfielder has his heart set on a move to Camp Nou and Perez won’t want to waste time in convincing him to ditch Barcelona.

Barca are still very much interested in the 29-year-old but they are struggling to trigger his release clause and as per some experts, the Catalans will first have to offload a few players before they can think about going after Silva.

If Barcelona can generate the necessary funds then the Manchester City midfielder is going to Camp Nou, that’s for sure. However, if the Catalans back off then a move to Saudi is the next possible destination for Bernardo Silva.
