Both Arsenal and Manchester City have opened talks to sign West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans – as per reports.

West Brom manager Alan Pardew has claimed that it will be very difficult to hold onto the defender especially with so many clubs wanting to sign him up. And now it looks as if the former Manchester United defender is on his way out of the Hawthorns.

The BBC are reporting that Arsene Wenger has already made contact with the West Brom as the Gunners boss is eager to bring in a couple of signings during the January transfer window especially after his club’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup. Arsenal are set to lose Per Mertesacker who is set to retire at the end of the season and the London outfit had no plans to move for Evans before the end of the season.

But after their shock 3rd round exit in the FA Cup, the fans have once again turned against their manager and Wenger feels that a couple of new signings will be able to calm things down a bit.

On the other hand, Manchester City too seem to have made contact with Alan Pardew’s side over the transfer of Jonny Evans. Guardiola was after the centre-back all throughout the summer and the Spaniard has openly admitted that he will have to sign a new defender as Vincent Kompany will not at his peak anymore.

Jonny Evans joined from Manchester United back in 2015 for a fee of just £6million and the defender is now valued at £30million.
