Manchester United look all set to offer David De Gea a new contract at Old Trafford amidst strong interest from Real Madrid – as per reports.

Real Madrid have been chasing De Gea for three years and they even went agonisingly to signing the shot-stopper back in 2015. Recent reports have suggested that Zinedine Zidane has once again prioritized signing the former Atletico man.

David’s current contract at Old Trafford expires in 2019 and Manchester United seem to have already planned to offer a new contract to the Spaniard.

Currently, David De Gea is paid £210,000-a-week but under the new contract, he will receive £300,000-a-week – the same as Paul Pogba.

The new contract is expected to have a five-year term and the buyout clause is also expected to rise significantly.

A source close to Manchester United told The Sun“The club are finally going to kick-start contract talks with David very soon.

“There were hints of talks in the summer but formal discussions had not yet started, it was just a matter of time.

“There is no problem and the money men are committed to tying him down for the long-term.

“He is probably the best and most important player at the club and there is no chance we want to lose him.”

Real Madrid are planning to launch a bid for David De Gea during the summer transfer window and as a result of which United want to bind the Spaniard in a new deal by the end of the current season.
