Arsenal slumped to their fourth defeat in 11 days and the players look absolutely lost. Will they be able to revive their season or will they keep falling further?

The Gunners lost 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday meaning they are now sixth on the league table – 13 points behind that elusive Champions League spot.

Arsenal went 2-0 down by the 26th minute but managed to claw back one goal thanks to January signing Aubameyang. But that was about the only bit of fightback they managed to conjure.

And now Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has claimed that their confidence has hit rock bottom.

The Arsenal captain said: “We know we are in a bad situation, a bad period,

“We tried but nothing is with us. We tried to fight and play football but you could see the confidence is very down. We miss a lot of things during the game but we need to push more again and again.

“The confidence will be back slowly. We know we need to win to have a little bit more confidence in us. We lost a little bit of our quality but we need to stay united.

“It is very hard because when you play for a big club like Arsenal you need to be in the top four,” Koscielny added.

“I think it has been difficult for everyone, maybe the first time for all of them,

“We are not confident in our quality individually and collectively,”

Up until this point in time, the Arsenal fans had targeted Arsene Wenger but after their defeat against Brighton, the fans have started firing shots at the players also.

And this statement from the Arsenal captain looks more like a strategic move to calm the fans rather than a heartfelt message.
