After a series of dampening performances, Manchester United finally got their groove back as they comfortably beat Swansea at home on Saturday. The match saw goals from Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez and it looked like the international break had helped the players get their mindset back on track.
United put the foot on the peddle from the first minute of the game and every player’s energy at tracking back and winning the ball clearly showed that Jose Mourinho had some words of advice before the game.
And Romelu Lukaku who scored his 100th goal in the Premier League revealed that the manager had made them work on their interplay during the training sessions ahead of the game.
Lukaku said: “We played with high tempo, lots of chances we could have scored more, but we had a different style of play and it was enjoyable,
“We started the game really well, really dominant from the start, that’s how we should play all the time.
“We had a lot of high tempo pressing and high passing, it was really enjoyable for us with the players who can run a lot. Today we showed we can play in a different style and it’s something we should do all the time.”
“We have worked on that on the training ground in the last three days, and when we came on the pitch everyone knew what we had to do,”
“I’m really happy for Alexis (to score) because he got a lot of stick from people but the hard work pays off and now it’s up to him to keep going like he has today.”
Manchester United were brilliant in the first half and they picked apart Swansea with a series of neat passes. In the second half though the pace dropped down a little and Swansea had two really good chances.
But like every other time David De Gea was there to ensure that the Red Devils do not flounder once again.
Next week Manchester United take on Manchester City at the Etihad in the high profile Manchester Derby.
