Ruben Loftus-Cheek Chelsea England

Ruben Loftus-Cheek have fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea during the 2020-21 season and he was left out of the matchday squad vs Barnsley in midweek.

Frank Lampard though did not want to read too much into Loftus-Cheek and Rudiger’s omission saying: “The situation with both is that they weren’t in the squad. I had a similar answer from the other day, they just weren’t in the squad. That is just a choice at the moment. Again with the centre-halves I can’t have them all in the squad. I keep getting asked about the size of the squad.

“There might be movement, we know that, but nothing is concrete so don’t read too much into those selections at the minute.

“It will have to be things which are right for the club and individuals and me and in terms of what happens in the next couple of weeks.”

But as per the latest reports, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could very well be sent out on loan since two big Premier League sides are interested in signing him on loan.

Claret and Hugh claim that West Ham United are keen to sign the England international on loan while Sky Sports are reporting that Aston Villa manager Dean Smith is eyeing a similar move for either Loftus-Cheek or Ross Barkley.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek featured in the season opener vs Brighton and had a really poor outing following which the midfielder seems to have lost the faith of his manager.

Some rumours have suggested that Chelsea might be open to selling him before October 5 but we are sure Frank Lampard will not be willing to take such a gamble right now.

A season-long loan move seems much more sensible and it could work out well for all the parties involved. Also with Chelsea eager to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United, the Blues could very well try and use Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a bargaining chip.
