Chelsea take on Everton in the Premier League this weekend and it looked like Antonio Rudiger will be a part of this match.

The German has played only a single match in the league this season for the Blues and right now he is recovering from a groin injury.

Last week the defender had returned back to training which prompted many people to believe that Antonio Rudiger would make a return pretty soon.

And as per some of the major publications in England, his return was scheduled to be against Everton this weekend.

Now though Frank Lampard has made it clear that Antonio Rudiger might be making a rapid recovery but he’s not likely to play any part against the Toffees at Goodison Park on Saturday.

The manager said: “Abraham is good. He hasn’t done much between games. We will make sure at the moment he is good.

“We have got Toni Rudiger match fitness training. Tomorrow is too soon but he is on the verge.”

The Blues enter the busy winter schedule and the manager would have loved to rest some of his defenders. But with Antonio Rudiger still not a 100 per cent fit, the Chelsea boss will once again opt for the centre-back pairing of Kurt Zouma and Tomori against Everton.

But all’s not bad for the Blues since Lampard has also said that Ross Barkley is back to full fitness meaning the England international could start in central midfield against his former side.
