Emerson Chelsea
Emerson playing for Chelsea

Chelsea are planning to bring in a new left-back during the summer and it looks like they have been given the opportunity to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus.

Alex Sandro joined Juventus from Porto in 2015 and this season he has played in 22 Serie A games for the club. But clearly the Brazilian does not feature in the long-term plans of Maurizio Sarri which is why the Old Lady are looking to send him off.

The Blues have been chasing Sandro for a couple of years now and Juventus are finally ready to let him join Chelsea but in a swap deal for Emerson.

Rumours had been circulating that Emerson has had a bust-up with Lampard following which he has shown interest in moving back to Italy and join his former manager Maurizio Sarri at Juventus.

The player has himself shot down there rumours but still, he’s being constantly linked with a move to Turin and now with Juve looking to send Alex Sandro the other way, this deal could very well happen at the end of the season.

Should Chelsea accept Alex Sandro in exchange for Emerson?

Alex Sandro is without a doubt a top-class left-back and he will most certainly be an upgrade to Emerson.

This season the player might have provided only three assists in the Italian league but the prospect of a swap deal means Chelsea will not have to spend any money on signing a new full-back. And this is bound to be of interest to Frank Lampard.

Chelsea are currently looking at Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell as a replacement to Emerson but the Foxes reportedly want 50 odd million pounds in exchange of the player which is surely out Chelsea’s reach right now.

Chelsea are expected to enter talks with Leicester in a bid to lower that transfer price but now that they have been offered the services of Alex Sandro, Lampard might accept this proposal and let Emerson move back to Italy.

This season Emerson has played in only 14 Premier League games for the London club which is a clear indication that Lampard does not trust him. And this means the Chelsea manager should have no trouble in accepting this swap deal.

Reports in Italy claim, Emerson is keen on returning to the Serie A and that the Old Lady are in touch with the player’s representatives. So this could mean, Alex Sandro could well be playing for the Stamford Bridge outfit next season.
