Man United knocked Arsenal out of the FA Cup this Friday when Solskjaer’s men beat the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium 3-1.
And one of the goalscorers on the night was former Arsenal man, Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean has been out of the side during the past couple of games due to an injury.
But he managed to get a start against his former side and like most of the other players he too did not disappoint on the night.
Apart from Alexis Sanchez, one other forward was was in fine form against the Gunners was Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has scored a bunch of goals under the caretaker boss but Solskjaer has always favoured Marcus Rashford as his main front man.
The English international though started the FA Cup game on the bench with Lukaku getting the nod ahead of him.
And the big Belgian came off in the second half with two crucial assists.
The first one was a beauty as he put Alexis Sanchez through on goal and the Chilean after getting back Petr Cech put the ball into the back of the net.
And Lukaku revealed after the game what he had actually told Alexis Sanchez before the high profile encounter.
“I told him in training, ‘Listen, you’re going to score’,” Lukaku told MUTV(as reported).
“I said to him I’d give him the ball as long as he ran inside if I couldn’t shoot. I said to him, ‘Just run in and I’ll find you’.
“I think you could see when I got the ball I was looking for him and he made the right run and the finish for him was incredible.
“We knew they would leave space for me and Alexis with the full-backs pushing on, so it would end up being 3 v 3 or 3 v 2 and we had a lot of moments when we could have countered better, especially in the second half.
“I think we could have scored two or three more goals, to be honest, but 3-1 at Arsenal is very good.”
But Solskjaer though spoke like a true manager and went on to say that Alexis Sanchez can do much better.
“It wasn’t like Alexis had an open goal, it was a great finish,” the manager said.
“Every player, the more confident you get the more you want to get on the pitch and train and work on yourself and you trust yourself.
“He has been injured lately so it was great to see him get 65-70 minutes tonight and he can only improve and I think he knows that himself.”
