Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos missed out the Gers match vs TNS this week and immediately there were reports that the player might be heading out.

Thankfully that though does not seem to be the case as the reports coming out of the club suggest the Colombian has picked up a knock as a result of which he was rested for this friendly.

Next week Rangers begin their Europa League campaign vs St Joseph’s at Alfredo Morelos is bound to be a part of that match. But with the way things are shaping up, it seems like Steven Gerrard will find it really difficult to keep him at the club for the 2019-20 season.

Up until now, as many as half a dozen top European clubs have been linked with the striker with the likes of Real Betis and Marseille all interested in bringing him onboard for the upcoming campaign.

But Alfredo Morelos has always maintained that his biggest dream is to play in the English Premier League.

Back in May, the Colombian had said: “I dream of playing in a much better, more competitive league. I look at the English Premier League and the Spanish League. The leagues in France and Italy are very big leagues too and very competitive.

“But I am very happy with what has been a great season with Rangers. I’ve scored a lot of goals and on Sunday I hope to end the season with another goal and be the top scorer in Scotland.”

Up until now, Newcastle United were the biggest Premier League club who have been linked with Alfredo Morelos and at one point there were heavy rumours that the Colombian could be heading to St James’ Park.

Now with Rafa Benitez heading to China, those rumours seem to have fizzled out and for the time being Mike Ashley’s biggest priority is to name a new boss.

In the meantime though, reports are suggesting that Crystal Palace have grown a liking for Alfredo Morelos and might make a move for him in the coming few weeks.

Palace have seen loanees Jordan Ayew and Michy Batshuayi head back to their parent clubs and they could also have to part ways with Wilfried Zaha.

So it looks like, the Eagles are looking at Alfredo Morelos to fill up the void.

It is still unclear whether Steven Gerrard would want to part ways with one of his best players but many experts believe that if an interested club can put around £20-22 million on the table then surely the Gers would have to sanction his transfer.
