Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has revealed that he did not have any offer to join Manchester City after his move out of Barcelona.
Iniesta who is a La Masia product called it quits on his Barcelona career after spending 16 senior seasons with the club.
After moving out of the Camp Nou, the Spaniard had made it pretty clear he did not wish to play for another European club which would then present the prospect of facing his former side – something that he did not wish to do.
Then Iniesta eventually went onto sign for Japanese side Vissel Kobe on a three-year deal.
But before moving to Japan there were several reports doing the rounds that his former manager at Barcelona wanted him to join Manchester City.
It was being stated that Guardiola who is now in charge of City wanted to reunite with his old midfielder and would make a move for Iniesta as soon as he moved out of Barcelona.
Now though, the 34-year-old has gone onto clear the air and claimed that he did not have any offer from Manchester City neither did Pep Guardiola approach him.
Andres Iniesta told Cadena Cope radio: “I had no offer from City, Guardiola never called me.
“I have seen reports in the media that there was contact, but honestly there was no conversation. I was leaving Barca to leave Europe, so that would have made no sense.
“I was lucky enough to be at an elite club where I was at my happiest, that makes me tremendously proud, but it was time to undertake another adventure.”
Iniesta now is gearing up to play his last World Cup for Spain when the 2010 winners begin their campaign in Russia.
Spain play their first group stage game on Friday when they take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
