According to a report in Fichajes, Manchester United have offered their struggling striker Anthony Martial to Real Madrid.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have failed to sign Kylian Mbappe and while Madrid are not expected to make any big-name signings before the window shuts down there’s a chance they could be tempted to sign Anthony Martial on a season-long loan deal.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United have offered the Frenchman on a loan deal with an option to buy him permanently next summer and as a short-term replacement for Karim Benzema, Martial could be the ideal fit.
Will Real Madrid be tempted to bring in Anthony Martial?
Martial’s contract with Manchester United expires in the summer of 2024 and now that the club have signed Rasmus Hojlund, the 27-year-old has no future at the club.
Ten Hag is more than willing to offload him this summer and a loan deal with an obligation to buy will work really well for Manchester United. Martial’s current market value is €15 million if United can get around €15 to 17 million for the forward then it will be a great bit of business.
Benzema’s move to the Saudi Pro League was a massive setback for Real Madrid plus they have also failed to bring in Kylian Mbappe.
There’s no way someone like Anthony Martial will be able to fill the boots of Benzema but a club like Madrid have the financial capacity to spend around €15 million on a striker for one season. Next year, they will be confident of bringing in Mbappe and then if they do decide to hold onto Martial the Frenchman can act as the backup forward.
Another reason why the Los Blancos could be interested in signing Anthony Martial is that Vinicius Jr has picked up a hamstring injury and he will be out for a couple of weeks. With Vini out of the picture, Ancelotti now only has Rodrygo, Reinier and Joselu as his remaining forward options so Martial’s addition to the squad will not be a bad idea at all.
The forward has been a failure at Man United so signing him will be a massive gamble for Real Madrid but we have a feeling, Carlo Ancelotti won’t mind putting his faith on Martial rather than keep choosing a 33-year-old Joselu every matchweek.
