Arsenal have managed to picked up a win in the all-important North London Derby meaning the Gunners are now just 10 points away from that elusive fourth spot. And they also have a game in hand as compared to Chelsea who occupy the final Champions League spot.

Finishing in the top-four of the Premier League table still looks like a pipe dream for Arsenal but beating Spurs has surely given them a lot of confidence and according to Mikel Arteta, his side are going to give this almost impossible dream one final shot.

He said in his post-match interview: “I think while it’s mathematically possible, we’re going to believe and we’re going to give it a go for sure.

“We know that we have to be extremely consistent to have any chance in the next two or three matches to be very close to them. But we’re going to give it a go and keep trying, going game by game.

“Hopefully it[the win] will increase the level of confidence in the team and the belief that we can play really well against any opponent, that we can beat big teams as well, and to maintain this together with the same belief.

“We know that we have to put together four or five wins in a row to give ourselves any chance of looking up in the table but we are ready for a fight.”

Despite the loss, Spurs still hold a very comfortable position in the top-four race and if Chelsea slip up in their next few matches it’s Mourinho’s side who will have a better chance at securing Champions League qualification.

Obviously, Arteta cannot sound demotivating right after such a crucial win but the Gunners boss knows very well that it’s almost impossible for his side to finish in the top-four by the end of May.

The Emirates outfit still need to face teams like West Ham, Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea in the league and there’s a big chance that they will drop points in some if not all of these matches.

As things stand, the best possible way for Arsenal to move into the top-tier of European football next season is by winning the Europa League this time around.
