West Ham United youngster Declan Rice is currently one of the most sought-after midfielders in the Premier League and the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham are already eyeing a move for him.

Declan Rice has already established himself as a mainstay in the Hammers midfield and the club are sweating it out to keep the youngster at the club.

The 19-year-old is yet to sign a new deal with West Ham and while Manuel Pellegrini is confident that Rice will put pen on paper on a new deal but with the likes of Chelsea and Spurs coming after him, the Hammers might find it really difficult to keep him at the club.

Declan Rice has already rejected an initial offer for a contract extension and some publications claim West Ham have already put forward a new an improved offer.

With the likes of Chelsea and Spurs pursuing Declan Rice, Jamie Redknapp feels that Manchester City should also join the race.

Pep Guardiola currently has one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League in the form of Fernandinho but at the age of 33, the Brazilian is not getting any younger.

Jamie Redknapp feels City should look at Declan Rice as a long-term replacement to Fernandinho and he also has a hunch that the Citizens already have the 19-year-old on their radar.

Redknapp said: “Rice has all the hallmarks of Fernandinho, the anchorman of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City midfield,

“The Brazilian is still performing at the peak of his powers but given he is 33, City will be on the lookout for a long-term replacement. I would not be surprised if Rice is already on their radar, and plays against them in West Ham’s next home game.

“He has the same attitude as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and John Terry – players who put in the hard yards in training and worked tirelessly to keep on improving.”
