According to a report in Calciomercato.it, Premier League side Man United are interested in signing Inter left-back Federico Dimarco.

Federico Dimarco has been on Inter’s books since 2018 and he’s been in and out of the club during several loan spells. To date, he’s played 105 games for the Serie A side and over the years, his work rate has impressed several managers. This season, he’s started every league game for Inter, scoring one and assisting three goals.

His current contract with Inter expires in 2026 and even though he is on the verge of signing a new deal, Man United are supposedly keen to bring him on board sometime next year. Inter though are not against selling the defender but they will demand around €50 million to let him leave.

Will Man United spend money on Federico Dimarco?

Currently, Erik ten Hag has Luke Shaw, Malacia and Reguilon who are all left-backs so it is very hard to see why the Man United manager will want to spend money on yet another left-back.

Luke Shaw is the first choice for that position with Malacia and Sergio Reguilon as the backup. Shaw and Malacia are out injured right now but should be back by December while the loanee from Spurs will return after the international break.

Currently, Man United do have a left-back crisis but all three players will be up and running before the January window so there’s no need to spend €50-odd million on Dimarco.

Also, Reguilon has had a very successful loan spell at Man United so if Ten Hag needs another left-back, he will just go and make Reguilon’s loan deal permanent, something that will be a lot cheaper.

A club like Man United will obviously be linked with every big and in-form player but we seriously doubt ETH will go after Federico Dimarco, especially when he still needs to sort out some other problematic areas.
