According to a report in Bild, Bayern’s hopes of making Jamal Musiala sign a new and improved contract have hit a massive roadblock.

The midfielder is one of the brightest young talents in the European scene right now which is why Bayern Munich are so eager to make him sign an extension. His current deal secures him wages of €8m-a-year and runs until 2026 but the Bavarians are willing to hand him a big pay rise alongside a tenure extension.

However, as per the latest report, the talks between the two parties have been put on hold for the next couple of months which has immediately spiked the interest of Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Why is Jamal Musiala refusing to sign a new deal?

Jamal Musiala was supposed to be the main attraction for Bayern this season but Thomas Tuchel has refused to hand him regular starts.

The 20-year-old has started only four league games(218 minutes) so far and as per the rumours, Musiala is not happy with the fact that he is being used in tandem with Thomas Muller.

This is the primary reason why the midfielder has halted contract talks hoping to explore his other options.

Will the midfielder prefer a move to Real Madrid or Liverpool?

On paper, Real Madrid are the clear favourites to sign the youngster because like Bellingham showed this summer, most players will do anything to play for the Los Blancos.

However, it remains to be seen whether Madrid will have enough money left to sign Jamal Musiala after bringing in Kylian Mbappe who happens to be their number one target for next year.

Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the German midfielder and if Madrid cannot meet Bayern’s financial demands then the Premier League side will definitely be the favourites to land Musiala. Klopp has understood that if he wants to remain in the game then his club has to go out and spend money so paying a steep fee for Jamal Musiala won’t be an issue. They were ready to break the bank for Moises Caicedo who eventually joined Chelsea so the Fenway Group will surely pay up for someone like the Bayern prodigy.

Bayern will definitely be a bit worried due to this sudden pause in contract talks but we don’t think they will allow one of their biggest assets to leave next summer simply cause he still has three more years remaining in his contract.
