Man United suffered an utterly humiliating defeat at the hands of Liverpool, losing 5-0 at Old Trafford. And things could get even uglier as they get ready to face Spurs next weekend.

Manchester United had gone into Sunday’s game as the second-favourites but no one really expected to collapse like a house of cards. This defeat has set a chain of reactions in motion which could end by United sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

No one’s really sure if Ole will remain in charge on Saturday but if Ian Wright’s words are to be believed then Man United could be staring at another embarrassing result, this time at the hands of Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to the pundit, Man United looked so flustered in defence vs Liverpool as they are not going through key tactics in the training ground.

Wright said on the Wrighty’s House podcast, as quoted by Inside Futbol: “What’s gone wrong is that they are not working on team shape or pressing as a team.

“There is no way anyone can tell me, from what I am watching, that team are working on small-sided game situations, closing down, moving the ball, pressing at the right time, cutting angles off, moving your feel quickly and triggers on the pitch.

“They are not doing it so we are seeing players make mistakes, we are seeing Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire bumping into each other because they do not know what is going to happen when the ball is in a certain place.”

Man United set for another embarrassing result, this time vs Spurs?

The Man United defence looked all over the place vs Liverpool and there’s a very big chance that a repeat of the same can happen at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Players like Kane, Son and Lucas Moura, on their day, can show the same sort of synergy as Jota, Salah and Firmino and if Saturday is one of those days then Ole is under deep trouble.

When Liverpool had the ball and were breaking forward, the United defenders and midfielders were running around like headless chickens. And the Spurs front three can assert the same sort of dominance.

Players like Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have hit rock bottom in terms of confidence so the out of form Kane will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing Man United.

To make matters worse, Raphael Varane is out injured meaning Man United do not have the pace in defence neither can they afford to bring the ball out from the back.

Solskjaer and his players will be ultra-cautious not to see a repeat of the 5-0 scoreline from Sunday but just about one year ago, Manchester United had lost 6-1 to Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.
