Arsenal and London rival Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sign Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren during the summer transfer window.

Dejan Lovren joined Liverpool from Southampton in 2014 but the 30-year-old seems to have fallen down the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp and there have been various rumours that the player will be sold off at the end of the season.

Right now, Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk are the first-choice defenders for Liverpool right now which Joel Matip has been providing considerable backup in cup competitions and second string fixtures.

So naturally, Dejan Lovren has managed to play in just 9 Premier League games so far for the Anfield outfit and he might be looking for a new challenge for the upcoming season.

It’s being reported that both Arsenal and Spurs are interested in signing him during the summer primarily since Liverpool are currently quoting just £18 million in exchange of the defender which is a pretty nominal price tag.

Will Dejan Lovren join Arsenal or Spurs?

Given the circumstances and the lack of playing time, it’s more or less certain that Dejan Lovren will be heading out of Liverpool as soon as the current season is over.

But the big question is, will he join Arsenal or Tottenham?

If he were to join Arsenal then he might not get guaranteed playing time since Mikel Arteta already has the likes of Sokratis, Mustafi and David Luiz at his disposal and in January the manager brought in players like Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares.

Under Jose Mourinho too, Dejan Lovren will face the same problem since the manager already has very capable players like Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez to partner Toby Alderweireld.

But still, if he was to join Spurs then Lovren will most certainly have a glimmer of hope since Jan Vertonghen is expected to leave the club in the summer.

So under no circumstances will the defender get a secured first-team place either at Arsenal and Spurs meaning he will now have to consider the other most important factor while choosing his new club – whether or not he gets to play in the Champions League next season or not.
