Arsenal have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti despite the defender claiming that he has no plans to leave the Camp Nou.
Last month, Samuel Umtiti had said: “I have a contract and I’m happy at Barcelona,
“I had a difficult season, but I don’t want to go to other clubs. Next season I’ll be at Barça.”
But during the past couple weeks, the Barcelona centre-back has repeatedly been linked with a move to Arsenal and now with Shkodran Mustafi likely to move out, these rumours have just gotten stronger.
And BBC’s David Ornstein has claimed that the Gunners are ready to offload Mustafi this summer.
“Arsenal in talks with number of clubs over Shkodran Mustafi exit. 27yo (contract until 2021) wants to stay + prove himself.” he wrote on Twitter.
“But AFC want permanent or loan departure. Also hope to bolster central defence pre-deadline & retain interest in Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.”

But he has also gone on to add that despite Samuel Umtiti being linked with the Gunners, there are no major reports as to whether Unai Emery can actually manage to bring in a new central defender before the new season.
Names like Samuel Umtiti of Barcelona have been linked” he added.
“I don’t know if that’s credible, I don’t have any information on who they might be going for”
Ornstein is a really credible source when it comes to updates on Arsenal so if he is claiming that a central defender is not likely to arrive, then we ought to believe that.
