Arsenal at one point in the season looked favourites to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

But during the past few months, the Gunners have seen a slump in form and right now they are fifth on the league table – two points off the final Champions League spot.

The North London club have not only lost three consecutive league games but they have also conceded nine goals in these matches.

During their previous Premier League game, Arsenal were outclassed 3-0 by Leicester City away from home.

And now speaking before their final home game of the season vs Brighton, Granit Xhaka has revealed what the team felt inside the dressing room after the humiliating loss to the Foxes last week.

“The confidence, you take only if you win, if you fight, if you have a good result,” he told the club’s official website.

“We are all disappointed in the dressing room and not happy, of course not, but we have to look forward and the next game is Thursday.

“We have been fighting to win. It is not that we don’t fight because if we don’t fight, we don’t go to play. But it is difficult to explain.

“After this game or whenever you lose, it is always difficult to find the right words.”

Arsenal still have a fighting chance of finishing in the top four of the Premier League but some experts believe that instead of focusing on the league, Unai Emery should now turn his attention towards the Europa League.

The Gunners beat Valencia 3-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals which currently makes them the favourites of going through towards the finals.

Of course, winning the UEL will give Arsenal a direct entry into the Champions League next season but they will also have to keep in mind that there is a huge possibility that they might come up against London rivals Chelsea in the final which is surely not be a walk in the park.
