Arsenal dropped points vs bottom of the table Watford FC this Sunday as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road.

On paper, this will be one point on the road for Unai Emery’s men but in reality, the North London side will be more than happy to come out of this game with a draw especially how they were pinned against the wall all throughout the second half.

Arsenal bossed the first 45 minutes going up 2-0 and it looked like an easy three-pointer for them. But all that changed in the second half as Watford came out all guns blazing and managed to equalise(both goals coming from defensive errors).

Sokratis was at fault for the first goal as he gave away the ball while trying to play out from the back and then it was David Luiz who handed Pereyra a cheap penalty.

And speaking after the match, defender Sokratis has come out to claim that he is solely responsible for the draw this Sunday.

Sokratis said(as reported by Sky Sports): “I think that I cost the game for the team. It was my mistake for something simple that I don’t have to do.

“I think this was the problem why we lose the three points. This is all about our responsibility and we have to do better. It was my mistake and today without my mistake, we would take the three points.

“I don’t want to speak about others. Today it was my mistake and this cost the game. Nothing else. The other guys tried their best. I don’t have to do this mistake.

“Of course. I apologised because today I cost the game for the team and I have to work harder,

“I know up to this moment I didn’t have a mistake, I didn’t do nothing. Everything was near to perfect. We didn’t have the same pace in the second half as in the first half.

“But if we didn’t do these mistakes, I don’t think we draw. Of course, they had other chances to score more, but if we didn’t do these mistakes then nothing happens.”

VERDICT:

After the match, everyone was busy pointing fingers at David Luiz for giving away a clumsy penalty but in reality, the balance of the match swung in favour of the home side only after Sokratis made that error.

Had the defender chosen to be more careful while playing out from the back then possibly Watford wouldn’t have found the additional spark which they needed to get back on level terms.

So all in all the two centre-backs were at fault this weekend but also we feel that the Arsenal midfield just vapourised as soon as Watford started taking command of the match.
