Nicolas Pepe to replace Aubameyang Arsenal EPL
Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan Arsenal news

Aubameyang scored twice for Arsenal this Sunday vs Watford but those goals weren’t enough to see the match through as the Hornets staged a fine comeback to end the match 2-2.

The Gabon international scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute and then added the second just about 10 minutes later. And at this point in time, it looked as if the North London side would be merrymaking for the rest of the match.

Unfortunately for the travelling fans though, that was not to be as Arsenal were pinned into their own half by Watford all through the second half and on to of that, defenders Sokratis and David Luiz ended up gifting the home side two goals.

And speaking after the match, Aubameyang has claimed that Arsenal will need to stop gifting their opponent easy goals if they wish to be taken seriously in the league this season.

Aubameyang said(as reported by The Mirror): “Obviously we didn’t expect that [the comeback]. I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition, it is up to us to progress in that respect.

“I don’t want to accuse anyone, you could say that us the attackers could have killed the game off and score a third goal, so I am not going to say it is someone’s fault.

“I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition, it is up to us to progress in that respect.

“We need to improve and be stronger when we have this type of result in the first half, come out for the second half with strength.

“Us, as players, we have to improve and score a third goal, maybe as well.

“We know that it was a great opportunity for us and keep at a high level but we missed it – now we have to move forward and onto the next game.”

VERDICT:

Arsenal are already without Alexandre Lacazette who is expected to be out for a couple of weeks so all the goal-scoring burden has fallen onto Aubameyang.

So in such a scenario, the defenders need to buckle up and stop giving away cheap goals especially when the Gunners are playing away from home.

It’s very easy to dictate the flow of matches when Arsenal play at the Emirates but Emery’s men will need to strengthen their performances away from home if they wish to get back into the Champions League next year.
