Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has had a really average time in the Premier League and now as per his agent, the midfielder wants to head back to Italy.

Torreira joined the Gunners in 2018 from Sampdoria but under Mikel Arteta, the player has really struggled for regular game time at the Emirates. This season, the Uruguayan international has managed to play in 24 Premier League matches but most of them have been off the bench.

And with heavy interest from the likes of AC Milan, Torreira’s agent Pablo Bentancur has admitted that the 24-year-old would like to return back to the Serie A.

“Lucas had been in a bit of a bad mood over some technical differences, then he recovered,” Bentancur told TMW, as reported by Football London.

“And the injury arrived, fortunately, less serious than expected. Today he is completely recovered, I believe he will be a market man.

“I will have to speak to Arsenal. The player would love to return to Italy, but it must be acknowledged that Arsenal treated him very well and behaved great.”

Do Arsenal have a replacement for Lucas Torreira?

Right now, Lucas Torreira is behind the likes of Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and even Dani Ceballos in the pecking order and things are surely not going to change anytime soon.

Also, the Gunners are reportedly eager to bring in Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid and if he was to join Arsenal then surely, Torreira’s time at the Emirates is well and truly over.

TransferMarkt currently values Lucas Torreira at €36 million and given the player still has three years left on his current deal, Arsenal should be able to get around €35-40 million for him.

And if that is the case, then Mikel Arteta will most certainly have no scepticisms in letting the 24-year-old head back to Italy and a team like join AC Milan in the summer.

But before the Gunners decide to let Lucas Torreira leave, the management will have to make sure they will be able to get their hands on Thomas Partey since the Atletico man is wanted by a series of other big names.
