Arsenal will take on Napoli in the Europa League on Thursday and before that Unai Emery has provided an injury update on a couple of his players.

Currently, the duo of Granit Xhaka and Laurent Koscielny are recovering from an injury and there are multiple theories on whether they will be fit to face Napoli or not.

Granit Xhaka has not played a game since the international break courtesy of a groin strain while Koscielny is out with a bruised foot and has missed the past two Gunners encounters.

Some reports have claimed that the defender and the midfielder will not be fit before the Napoli game but now Unai Emery has come out to rule out the participation of the defenders.

The Arsenal manager has claimed that both the players will go through a late fitness test on Thursday in order to see whether they are available or not.

“We are going to assess tomorrow, they are improving and trained today with us,” the Spaniard said.

Both these players have returned back to training on Wednesday but which is a clear indication that the Gunners are trying hard to get the duo back to full fitness.

The manager has also shed light on why Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has come off the bench during the past two Premier League games.

“He had a small problem and he has been taking antibiotics because he is sick. That is the reason he didn’t start the last two matches.” Emery added.

If Granit Xhaka cannot make himself fit then it will be Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi who will start in central midfield while Aaron Ramsey plays in a more advanced role.

And if Koscielny too is absent then Nacho Monreal will start in the three-man defence just like he did vs Everton.
