Liverpool picked up a 2-0 win over Porto in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals at Anfield yesterday.

And with that, Jurgen Klopp’s men have one foot into the semi-finals firmly planted.

Naby Keita scored the first goal just five minutes into the match and then it was Roberto Firmino who added the second in the 26th minutes and with a handsome 2-0 lead no one really expects the Reds to slip up at the Estadio do Dragao next week.

But one major concern ever since the match ended has been with Mo Salah.

Towards the end of the match, Mo Salah caught Porto captain Danilo above the ankle with his studs raised but somehow the Egyptian managed to escape a red card.

And after the game, there have been fears that UEFA will look into it and the forward might be slapped with a ban thus ruling him out of the second leg.

Fortunately, though, this will not be the case despite the on-field referee and the VAR choosing to ignore the incident during the game.

‘As per Article 9 of Uefa’s disciplinary regulations, Salah will not face retrospective punishment as the officials spotted the incident during the game,’ claims the Independent.

“Decisions taken by the referee on the field of play are final and may not be reviewed by the Uefa disciplinary bodies,” the regulations state.

“In cases of serious misconduct, disciplinary action may be taken even if the referee and his assistants did not see the event in question and were therefore unable to take any action.”

This means Mo Salah is free to play the second leg and will most certainly be named in the starting XI by Jurgen Klopp.
