According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Arsenal have launched an official bid to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca who also happens to be a target for West Ham United.

Moyes has been using Michail Antonio as his lone striker for more than a year so he’s desperately trying to bring in a new centre-forward and someone like Scamacca can turn out to be the ideal partner for Antonio. He’s scored 16 goals in 36 league matches for Sassuolo in the previous season.

However, Alfredo Pedulla reckons that the Gunners have made an official £35 million bid for the 23-year-old striker.

This news is a major blow for West Ham United because Arsenal are not only a bigger club than them but they can also offer the forward a chance to play in Europe next season.

Arsenal or West Ham United: Who needs Scamacca more?

Both the London teams are floating on the same boat because both of them desperately need attacking reinforcements.

David Moyes will not be able to carry on for one more season with Michail Antonio as his sole attacking option and after the departures of Auba and Lacazette, Mikel Arteta also needs to sign one or possibly two new strikers.

At the London Stadium, Gianluca Scamacca will be able to play in tandem with Antonio and even at Arsenal, the centre-forward’s role is up for grabs because Lacazette has just announced his exit from the side.

However, the Gunners are also looking into other forwards like Gabriel Jesus and Alvaro Morata so if Scamacca decides to join them then he might not be a guaranteed starter.

Is Gianluca Scamacca heading to Arsenal or West Ham United?

As per the latest reports, the player wishes to remain in the Serie A next season and Arsenal’s initial offer has just been rejected.

This update is bad news for the Hammers but frankly speaking, Arsenal won’t be too apprehensive about this development.

The Gunners are knocking on every door in the hopes of landing a decent striker so we doubt if they will wait too long for Gianluca Scamacca to change his mind. If the forward refuses to leave Italy then Arsenal will just shift their focus to their other targets.

The reason why he wants to stay in the Serie is that AC Milan, Napoli and Inter have all shown an inclination to sign him and we guess the 23-year-old is waiting for one of them to make a formal move. If either one of them puts in a bid then West Ham United and Arsenal stand no chance at all.
