Celtic are doing all they can to keep the likes of Arsenal from signing their centre-forward Odsonne Edouard at the end of the 2019-20 season.

The forward joined the Bhoys in 2018 from PSG and since then the 22-year-old has been in fine form for the Glasgow outfit. This season, Edouard has netted 21 goals in just 27 Premiership games for Celtic.

And for a number of months now Premier League club Arsenal have shown interest in signing the centre-forward during the summer.

But now as per a report in the Football Insider, Celtic are planning to offer Odsonne Edouard a new ideal at the club and if the player agrees to it, he will be one of the highest-paid players in the Bhoys squad.

The report claims: “Celtic have made a contract proposal to Odsonne Edouard that would see him rocket into the top bracket of earners at the club, Football Insider understands.

“A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club are working to extend Edouard’s deal to prevent him from leaving this summer and a big pay rise forms part of their pitch.

“The Hoops are aware of strong interest in the French centre-forward, 22, from leading clubs south of the border and also across Europe.”

Do Arsenal still have a chance to sign Edouard?

Arsenal could lose both Aubameyang and Lacazette in the summer which is why Mikel Arteta has been so eager to land the services of the Celtic man in the summer.

But some experts believe if the Frenchman does agree on the new deal at Park Head, it will be really tough for the Gunners to get their hands on the forward.

While this could still stand true but we firmly believe if the North London club tries hard enough, they should be able to get their hands on Odsonne Edouard quite easily.

Scottish sides are by no means as financially strong as their English counterparts so if the Gunners are ready to pay the correct price for the forward, Neil Lennon is bound to part ways with the 22-year-old.

Celtic sold Kieran Tierney to Arsenal for a fee of around £25 million and as per rumours, the club rate Edouard even higher. But given the current financial situation in Europe, there’s every chance the Bhoys could lower their asking price in order to fund their own transfer for the upcoming season.
