Arsenal parted ways with Arsene Wenger last summer but the veteran Frenchman gave one last gift to the club before leaving – in the form of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

During the second half of the 2017-18 season, Aubameyang scored 10 goals but this season he has already surpassed that tally.

Aubameyang is currently the second highest goalscorer in the Premier League with 15 goals behind Mo Salah who leads the way with 16 goals(when this article was written).

But last season, Wenger had struggled to incorporate both Alexandre Lacazette and Aubameyang into the first XI something which Unai Emery seems to have mastered.

Lacazette is the one who mostly plays down the middle while the Gabon international is the one who is deployed on the flanks.

Having said this though, these positions are not rigid as the manager gives both of his frontmen the freedom to swap places.

But speaking to Sky Sports, Aubameyang has revealed where he actually wants to play for Arsenal.

“My favourite role is playing striker, in front. I also like playing on the wing, but I think my best position is a striker,” Aubameyang told Sky Sports.

“I like to play with two up front, it’s nice because you can do some combinations with the other strikers.

“If the coach needs me on the right or on the left, it doesn’t matter, I go and I fight for the team, it’s no problem.”

“We were rivals before in France, I was not expecting for him to be my friend, but today is different,” Aubameyang said about his partnership with Lacazette.

“At first, when I came here, he gave me a lot of confidence, because we spoke straight.

“We have the same vision about football, which is a good point between us, and that’s the point that started this friendship.

“When one comes to the ball, the other goes deep. It’s about filling in. You lift your head up and see he is going into space, it’s about feeling as well. If we have to give the ball to a guy in better space, you have to give him the ball.

“That’s what happens between us.”
