After giving it a lot of thought, Barcelona have finally decided to offload Marlon Santos from amongst their ranks and West Ham is his next possible destination.

The Hammers have been linked with the 22-year-old defender for a couple of weeks now but suddenly the rumours had died down and many publications claimed that Barcelona were no longer interested in parting ways with him.

Now though it seems that the Catalans have finally made up their mind on Marlon Santos and the centre-back is on his way out of Spain.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo are claiming that Santos’ exit will be sealed next week once his current contract with the club expires at the end of June.

Marlon Santos moved up through the ranks at Brazilian side Fluminense and in 2016 he moved to Spain in order to join Barcelona.

But the centre-back has failed to make an impact at Camp Nou ever since his move and spent the whole of last season out on loan to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.

Marlon Santos was sent on a two-year loan spell to Nice with an option to buy him permanently for €20 million.

However, Nice’s new manager Patrick Vieira ended the player’s loan spell this summer as a result of which Santos had to return back to Spain.

Mundo Deportivo had claimed on one of their previous reports that Barcelona and West Ham were unable to agree on a transfer fee for the player with Barca demanding €25 million while the Hammers were only willing to shell out €15 million.

But now that the pricing dilemma has been solved, we have a feeling that the London outfit have come out trumps as Barcelona have agreed to lower their asking price – primarily because there was no other interest in Marlon Santos.
