Bayern Munich has been on a roll in the Bundesliga yet again but it’s the Champions League that they need to win in order to be a household name in Europe once again.

In a quest to achieve the same, the Bavarians will take on Chelsea in the second leg of the Round of 16 this weekend at home.

Bayern Munich go into this tie on the back of a 17-match winning run in all competitions but they haven’t played a competitive fixture in over a month which is something that their manager will be a bit worried about.

Also, the last time Bayern faced Chelsea in the Champions League was back in the 2012 final, a game which the German club went on to lose on penalties.

Bayern Munich team news vs Chelsea:

Jerome Boateng and Alaba will start in central defence while Alphonso Davies will reprise his role at left-back.

Benjamin Pavard though is ruled out from this high-profile encounter meaning Joshua Kimmich or Alvaro Odriozola will get a chance to start at right-back.

Alcantara has been tipped to move out of the club this summer but he will surely get a start in central midfield alongside Leon Goretzka.

Thomas Muller and Gnabry both started during Bayern’s friendly against Marseille last month and the duo are fully fit to take on Chelsea this weekend.

Kingsley Coman though could be a miss this weekend for Bayern Munich since reports in Germany are claiming that player only completed a 20-minute running session on Thursday.

The absence of Coman will be a big blow for Flick who will then have to rely on Ivan Perisic to play on the right-wing. Against Marseille, the Croatian was deployed on the left-hand side.

Robert Lewandowski starting upfront in an absolute no-brainer.

Bayern Munich have a 3-0 lead from the first leg of this tie so unless they do something utterly stupid, the Germans should be progressing to the next round.
