Chelsea might finally be able to get their hands on Leicester City’s 23-year-old left-back Ben Chilwell in the coming months.

The left-back has been one of Lampard’s top priority targets this summer and it looks like Leicester City are finally preparing themselves to part ways with the England international.

According to reports, the Foxes are eyeing a move for Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand who has come up through the ranks at Stamford Bridge.

talkSPORT have quoted the Times saying: “Chelsea look to be edging closer to the signing of Ben Chilwell.

“According to The Times, Leicester City are increasingly resigned to Chilwell leaving and have stepped up their search for a new left-back.

“Brendan Rodgers is said to have earmarked Ryan Bertrand, who has one year left on his contract at Southampton, as Chilwell’s replacement. Bertrand – a Champions League winner at Chelsea – is well known to Rodgers with the pair having worked together in the academy at Stamford Bridge.”

Can Chelsea finally get their hands on Ben Chilwell?

Ryan Bertrand joined Southampton from Chelsea in 2015 and he has one year left on his current deal at St Mary’s. The Saints are in need of transfer funds which is why if Leicester City make a sizeable offer, Hassenhutl should let the 30-year-old head out in the summer.

But for that to happen, Leicester City will have to ensure they get a top transfer fee from the sale of Ben Chilwell and this is where Chelsea could face the biggest obstacle.

As per rumours, LCFC might demand as much as £75million for the England international which is really troublesome for Frank Lampard.

Chelsea have already spent a lot of money in signing players like Ziyech and possibly Timo Werner and sparing another £75million for Ben Chilwell might be out of their reach this summer.

Under normal circumstances, any other club might have lowered their demands but Leicester are one of the toughest negotiators in European football and the left-back still has four years left on his current deal.
