Rangers FC brought in Borna Barisic during the summer of 2018 from NK Osijek for a fee of around €2.45 million.

Initially, a lot was expected from the left-back but it is fair to say that the 26-year-old has highly disappointed.

During the 2018-19 season, Borna Barisic managed to play in just 27 games across all competitions out of which 15 came in the Premiership.

And during the second half of the season, there was a huge misunderstanding regarding an injury sustained by him.

Borna Barisic missed the final two months of the season due to the injury and only made an appearance during the final game of the Premiership season.

Steven Gerrard had once said that he had returned from international duty with the injury but now Borna Barisic has claimed that there was confusion which has now been resolved.

“I had a misunderstanding with Rangers after the injury, but the matter has been solved now,” Barisic said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“Unfortunately, because I have not been playing much, I am not at the desired fitness level just now.

“I will need extensive training, but I have plenty of experience to come through this.

“I will be up against Gareth Bale and that should be a really good battle. But it’s important we don’t just concentrate on him – Wales have got plenty of good players as well as him.

“Playing at Osijek again will be a dream for me. There will be an incredible atmosphere and the match is sold out.”
